☰ جدول المحتويات

تُعتبر الرياضة الوطنية جزءًا لا يتجزأ من ثقافة الأمة. بعض الألعاب الرياضية هي بحكم الأمر الواقع (غير مُقرَّرة في القانون) هي رياضات وطنية، مثل البيسبول في الولايات المتحدة والألعاب الغيلية في أيرلندا، في حين أن البعض الآخر رياضيات بحكم القانون (مُقرَّرة بموجب القانون)، مثل اللاكروس وهوكي الجليد في كندا. لا يجب أن تكون هذه الألعاب الرياضية بالضرورة أكثر الألعاب التي يتم لعبها، والتي ستكون إما كرة قدم أو بيسبول أو كرة سلة في كل الدول، لكن هناك عدد قليل من الدول تعتبرها على نطاق واسع هامة بالنسبة لثقافتها.
